On the morning of March 19, the Bank of Nanjing 2023 Nanjing Pukou Marathon and National Women’s Half Marathon Championship(Nanjing Station) kicked off at Najing Pukou Lanxi Park.
After several hours of fierce competition, the top three runners were Song Jinting, Wang Jiali, Wu Bing, with the results of 1:14:59, 1:15:25,1:15:57. At the same time, they also won the top three of women’s half marathon.
The top three male runners of the half marathon were Wen Min, Bao Yuekun, Bai Guangning, with the results of 1:11:18,1:11:51, 1:12:25.
The top three male runners of the full marathon were Liao Shunhu, Sun Lingdi and Xiao Zufeng, with results of 2:21:5, 2:29:02, 2:31:19. The winners of women’s full marathon were Zhao Yali, Chen Xiaoyun, and Xiao Lan, with results of 2:52:54, 3:o5:43, 3:06:22.
Since the Nanjing Pukou Women’s Half Marathon was held in 2016, it has become the first women’s marathon event in Jiangsu Province of China. After 6 years’ development, it is now a World Athletics Gold Label Race. Nanjing Pukou Marathon is upgraded from the women’s half marathon, and become the first full marathon event at Pukou District.
The race created a beautiful course for the runners to “Run into the mountains and rivers ”. At 8:00 a.m. in the morning, the happy runners ran through 22 landmarks and scenic spots such as Pearl Spring, Huachang Dragon Valley, etc., enjoying the nice scenery and new image of the region of northern bank of Yangtze River.
Nearly 20 cultural performances including Lion Dances and Dragon Dances were set up along the race course, attracting a lot of the citizens. On the race day, the online competition was simultaneously launched, to promote Pukou’s rich culture and unique experience.
